Top Tracks of 2013 – Number 16

My number 16 is ‘These Days Are Mine’ by I am Kloot, one of the more overlooked Manchester bands.

On my 2013 playlist in iTunes it comes on after the Villagers ( see number 17) so I always associate the two tracks which came out at the start of the year. It also has a good video, but in a very different National Geographic, epic way.

2013Scroll down for Andy and Roy’s choices. You can see the list so far here.

  1. Can’t say this is over familiar but sounds very Bunnymen like to me – which is no bad thing
This maybe a crossover moment; my number 16 is Prefrab Sprout ‘The Best Jewell Thief in the World’. I am and have never been a Sproutie but this is pure (indie)pop music at its absolute best, seemingly beemed in directly from 1986 – great video as well. Thanks to Richard for putting me on to this.

  2. Well, it’s going to be a difficult task to follow those two corkers but I’ll try. People familiar with my end-of-year lists will know that the Besnard Lakes invariably make their way in, and this year is no exception. Hailing from Canada, they produce dreamy, shoegazey tunes with ethereal vocals – well, that’s my description anyway. Enjoy the video, and for those of you with small children, I think the message to tell them is don’t accept sweets from strange men…particularly if they are men with beards you could lose a badger in! Right, the Besnard Lakes…
